Life Needs Music

Music is just a part of the creation – there is color and texture and light, temperature and weather – and there are the tender mercies and graces, and they are all musical.

The rustle of leaves

The wind in the trees

A steady drop of water on stone

Or pool or tin

The crashing of the thunder

And the moaning of the wind

The glass when it is shattered

The squeeking of a hinge

A brook, a lake, and ocean waves

Playing on the rocks and sand

The whispered snowfall in the forest

Creatures on the land

Birds give up their anthems

As they raise their wings in flight

Echoes in the canyons

Symphonies at night.

-Ossian

And where does the music in it all come from?
